INNOVATION
THE ARTIST BEHIND MAXLEVL STUDIO
Back when I was a kid, I remember being scared when I saw monsters on TV, thinking that they were real.
One day, when I was maybe 7 y/o, between 2 episodes on the kids network, there was a 10 minutes episode explaining how a monster scene was made in Hollywood. All the artists behind it, the creation of the concept, etc.
From the moment I saw that episode, what was fear before became an avid curiosity. I wanted to know how things were done, and became fascinated by everything "behind the scene" and by every creatures I saw in a movie. All the transformations scenes fascinated me. I started following the work of artists in this field, and was always impressed by how far they could push the realism of a creatures.. So I can say that this short 10 minutes had a huge impact in my life and interests.
When I was a young teenager, I discovered silicone masks with the appearance of SPFX, CFX, Immortal Masks and lots of other incredible makers. I started to collect masks around 2015, growing my collection and always wanting to learn how these were made. I didn't get the chance to do it until late 2022, when I started taking classes at the Stan Winston School of Character Arts.
I was at a point in my life where pretty much everything didn't feel right, and led me to a medical leave of absence from work back in February 2023. Having nothing else but time in front of me, I started taking more classes, and doing small scale tests in my little shop.
I encountered lots of issues, since working with platinum silicone can be tricky. But with the help of leaders in the industry, and the Stan Winston School, I finally created my first silicone mask!
So now, I know that it's the thing I want to do with my life. Sculpting became the art medium I love the most. And going from a silicone masks collector to an actual maker, is something I'm truly thankful for. So I intend to follow that passion and see where it leads me!
If you are here and reading this, I want to thank you for the interest you have in my work and story. It's people like you who made MaxLevL Studio possible!
